Made of Hagop
Made of Hagop is a self-taught mixed media collage artist living in Venice Beach. His work is an exploration in the concept of synergy: the creation of a whole that is greater that the simple sum of its parts. The source materials of his work come from books and materials dated from the early 1800’s to 1900’s , and are retrieved from public domains and libraries from around the world. By constructing unlikely relationships between images, Made of Hagop is able to give new meaning and purpose to the subject matter, thereby challenging society’s preconceived notions regarding race, gender, and culture. Made of Hagop has taken the fine art to the streets in the form of wheat paste. He finds it to be such a powerful medium for expression because it is for and includes everyone.
Desert Queen is an ancient priestess. She is grounded, calm, and abundant- as represented by her bull horns. Her wings are her connection to the divine and she is an embodiment of heaven on earth.
